Welcome to 2025!
As you set your sights on your creative year ahead, consider what you want to achieve, and separate out the things you don't control (so much in this industry) and the things you do.
I'd suggest you make a list, and circle the things on that list that you completely control.
Then, create a new list of things you control that you're going to manifest. Maybe put them in order. Maybe just have a list and work on different things on different days.
To clarify: Getting an agent, Selling a book, Winning a big award are not things you have control over. Sending you portfolio or manuscript to an agent, offering a book out to a publisher, making sure you and your book have been entered for award consideration are things you control, so they're fair game.
Personally, I juggle between effort (time put in) and output. I haven't figured it all out, but taking the things I don't control off my goals list has made me feel more in control of this creative adventure.
I hope it does the same for you.
Cheering you on as you illustrate, translate, and write in the year ahead!
