Audible.com Founder and CEO Don Katz announced this new program "to help authors to become more self-reliant" by building on their ability "to connect directly with their readers and increase awareness of their work" via social media.
Don is quoted in Publishers Lunch about the $20 million dollars the company has put aside for the program in 2012, saying
"I am hoping this effort rewards authors because writing a book is one of the hardest and most meaningful things anyone can do. I hope it builds their audiences and our sales by working together."One goal of the program is to
"encourage authors to promote their audio versions at the same time" as they promote their written work.

Really interesting. So many new things out there. Wonder how to make the best of it all.
This is a wonderful idea. Audiobooks tend to be an under-appreciated medium, and anything that helps promote both writing and performing arts gets my vote.
