Thank you for this post and the link to David’s acceptance speech. His words are apropos for this time of racial tension in our nation, “What do we do? The answer is: We raise our voices . . . Not shouting, but telling stories and sharing stories. Our own stories, the stories that other people have written – this is how change occurs.” And with that in mind, I’m hoping our SBWI members will share some of their book recommendations so I can pass them along to my students, books that might ease racial tensions, enlighten readers, and encourage kindness as an important value.
