I will admit to having not read any of the Wimpy Kid books, but my son has read me every hilarious page (as deemed hilarious by a nine year old boy). So, I get credit for those, right? Having a kid read the Wimpy books to you is probably the best way to enjoy them. My son would get to laughing so hard he'd have to stop to catch his breath. His enjoyment certainly made me laugh.Ali Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15744571560735322734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-679654279463408644.post-38474498940716904442012-01-24T13:15:07.167-08:002012-01-24T13:15:07.167-08:00I just ran accross the 2012 Debut Author Challenge...I just ran accross the 2012 Debut Author Challenge which has a list of YA and Midgrade books by debut Authors for 2012.
http://www.thestorysiren.com/2011/11/2012-dac-info.html
I plan to read off this list as well as the Cybils and whatever catches my eye.The Pen and Ink Blogspothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01709195512534318571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-679654279463408644.post-79459503376544669562012-01-24T13:03:43.219-08:002012-01-24T13:03:43.219-08:00I belong to the Not for Kids Only Book Club, which...I belong to the Not for Kids Only Book Club, which is a group of adults who read and discuss books for children and teens. Even so, I haven't yet read any of the ALA award winners announced yesterday, but I'm looking forward to it.Carmela Martinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15543808551988338496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-679654279463408644.post-73266514285607673742012-01-24T10:25:06.320-08:002012-01-24T10:25:06.320-08:00We were just talking about this in my writing clas...We were just talking about this in my writing class last night. It is so essential to read within your genre. But I am going to suggest we take it one step further and broaden to read what is not normally what we write, either. Its a way to not be stale and to trigger further inspiration in us. Therefore, I am a PB writer, but I read YA and MG novels as well. I also do not write in rhyme...but I read plenty that do. Read deeply in your genre and then expand. :)Marcie Colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04875450055729085955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-679654279463408644.post-76243389430482728762012-01-24T09:26:38.689-08:002012-01-24T09:26:38.689-08:00I love to read and have an excellent library so I&...I love to read and have an excellent library so I'm lucky. I'm not going to count how many picture books I've studied- it would take away time from reading! But it's an excellent point you brought up and thanks for listing all the ideas and resources. I'm going to check out the "edited by" list right now!Jill Bergmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16944474238989466997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-679654279463408644.post-42336459631996578342012-01-24T05:24:15.935-08:002012-01-24T05:24:15.935-08:00Our children's librarian does a great job of d...Our children's librarian does a great job of displaying new and interesting books along the top shelves.
